BeadforLife volunteer opportunities:

Fulfillment Volunteers (2 hours per week)


Fulfillment
Volunteers participate in various tasks from fulfilling individual phone and web orders to bundling materials for party and event packs. This position is hands-on, fast-paced, detail-oriented, task-oriented, and fun. It also requires a moderate amount of manual dexterity, including standing, bending and reaching and frequent lifting of one to five pounds (occasionally up to 40-50 pounds). Fulfillment volunteers are energetic individuals who work well with others, have good organizational skills, and who work well in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. They are an important part of creating a communal atmosphere that is both supportive and fun.

Volunteer tasks include:
∙         Pre-packaging bags of inventory for BeadParties
∙         Bundling BeadforLife tags & brochures
∙         Re-bundling and sorting returned products
∙         Counting in jewelry from new shipments of inventory from Uganda
∙         Cleaning & organizing fulfillment space
∙         Posting/shipping orders
∙         Other tasks as required

BeadParty Volunteers (at least 2hrs. per week)



BeadParty
Volunteers experience hands-on opportunities to speak to party hosts —a central part of BeadforLife. This position is detail-oriented, interactive, personal, inspiring, and professional. It offers the individual the opportunity to refine his/her communication skills and to use his/her own creativity.

BeadParty Volunteers are energetic, take initiative, communicate and interact well with others, have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, are quick learners, and are professional and polite.

 

Volunteer tasks include contacting BeadParty hosts by phone or email to:
∙         Welcome new BeadParty hosts/Extend BeadParty dates/Thank BeadParty hosts
∙         Registration calls/Shipment calls
∙         Respond to people interested in hosting a BeadParty
∙         Respond to general BeadParty questions

O
ther
tasks include:
∙         Welcome & Thank You phone calls to new registrants
∙         Filing return BeadParty Tracking Sheets
∙         Printing, folding, sorting BeadParty resources
∙         Inputting email addresses for the Bead
∙         Sorting through letters to the Beaders, BeadParty pictures and media shout-outs

Bead Studio Volunteers (2 hours per week)

Studio Volunteers participate in various tasks ranging from providing customer service to re-stocking product. It is an energetic, communicative, helpful, personal and inspiring position. It may require a moderate amount of manual dexterity, including standing, bending and reaching and frequent lifting of one to five pounds (occasionally up to 40-50 pounds).

Volunteers who work in our studio should be personable, enthusiastic, polite and approachable. We ask that volunteers who work in the BFL studio dress professionally and modestly. Volunteers will be asked to help out during studio hours which are M-F 12:00pm-5:00pm.


Volunteer tasks include:
∙        Greeting and helping customers
∙        Ringing up sales, accepting payment, running credit          cards
∙        Re-stocking and refreshing product displays
∙        Taking phone orders and answering questions about          our products
∙        Sharing educational information about the
         BeadforLife story

Because the office space and staff in Uganda are limited, BeadforLife is only able to accommodate 2-3 volunteers or interns per year. Please read our Uganda Volunteer/  Intern Requirements before applying.

UGANDA VOLUNTEER/INTERN REQUIREMENTS:

Required length of stay:  
2 months up to one year depending on assignment.

Number of Volunteers/Interns per year:
Because the office space and staff in Uganda are limited, BeadforLife is only able to accommodate 2-3 volunteers and/or interns per year. If you are interested in applying for a volunteer or intern position, please make sure you meet the required stay, skill set, and experience we seek.

Airfare/Housing:
Unless otherwise specified either by a BeadforLife staff member or an approved volunteer/intern position, BeadforLife does not pay for housing or airfare to/from Uganda. We’re more than happy to suggest a few places to stay for the intern/volunteer to investigate.

Medical Insurance:
All VIP visitors/Volunteers/Interns staying in Uganda longer than one week are required to show proof of medical insurance, as well as emergency evacuation coverage at time they are accepted to visit or volunteer at the BeadforLife Uganda office. BeadforLife will not cover any required shots before arriving in Uganda or any medication taken while in Uganda. An example of such medication is malaria pills.

Uganda Visitor Visa:
All visitors going to Uganda are required to purchase a 3-month Visitor Visa. Visas can be purchased either in the U.S. or at the Uganda airport upon arrival. If you purchase your Visitor Visa in Uganda, the cost is $50 U.S. Unless otherwise specified by the BeadforLife Uganda Executive Director or an approved volunteer/intern position, BeadforLife does not pay for Uganda Visitor Visas.

Finances:
Unless otherwise specified by the BeadforLife Uganda Executive Director or an approved volunteer/intern position, BeadforLife does not pay for transportation around Kampala, food, or any type of personal spending. Lunch is provided for volunteers/interns in our Kampala office at no charge.
