Buwande, Juliet is 26 and the mother of three daughters. She has recently sent the oldest one back to school with the money that she has made from selling her beads. She herself managed to complete her education through grade nine while living with her sister in Kampala. Juliet married when she was 18. She and her husband live in a one-room house, which is neat and clean. Her husband would like to be hired as a security guard. In the meantime he can occasionally work in the rock quarry.

Juliet learned to make beads from her neighbor and is now a very skilled beader. She is using the bead money for food, rent, and schooling.
