Lakot Grace Mary, 37, recently gave birth to her fourth child, a son. She named him Dr. Charles, after Torkin’s husband Charles who is an AIDS doctor here. Everyone calls this little guy “Dr.” which is pretty funny. She and her husband have three other children the oldest Carolyn, 15 has a new baby herself. Her husband is unable to find work as a security guard. They had a quarry lease but it got covered up by a landslide of rock and rubble.

They dream of someday being able to build a house and would like to own their own market stall.

Grace Mary was one of the first women in her neighborhood to learn how to make paper beads. She has great pride in the high quality of her beads and is keen to help others improve. She tends to make very small beads and use translucent seed beads as accents. Very beautiful beads and beader.
