Alwoch, Balbina, 40, has a winning smile and a lot of entrepreneurial spirit. While she was never able to have any schooling her industry and intelligence have allowed her to open a small food shop and have a lease on a plot in the quarry. Her husband was killed in an ambush while driving in Northern Uganda and she and her only child moved to Kampala to flee the violence of the war. Currently she is taking care of five AIDS orphans and her grandson all of whom live with her in the back of the shop. Her parents live in a camp for internally displaced people.

Balbina works in the rock quarry everyday. With her bead money she wants to expand her shop and educate her children. We think that she will see her dreams through.F7FC8B
