Kakwanzi Power is our newest group in BeadforLife. This group has 40 members, 39 women and one man, Nickolas, who came to our office after his little wooden home was bulldozed to make way for a new student apartment building. All of the women were recruited through the Infectious Disease Instititue and are living with HIV/AIDS. They were living on less than two dollars a day. They are now making $145 a month! They have named their group “Kakwanzi Power”, which mean “Precious Bead Power” and they are full of hope and industry. This precious bead group will specialize in making loose beads and earrings.
