Short Richard Bills

Short Richard Bills

This is a hip hop song written by a young man, Short Richard Bills, who has started a paper selling business to supply paper to the BeadforLife Beaders.

Short Richard’s story is an example of how one person helped create the paper bead industry in Uganda. Richard will now be able to lift his family out of poverty while assisting the Beaders find the supplies they need to create beautiful jewelry!

Now this is Short Richard’s story
Paper seller at BeadforLife
Believe me I was the most hopeless
When my sis Prossey cam to me
Told me about BeadforLife
I was rude, told her “go away”
Let me wait for only death
Cuz I had no hope at all.

She brought me down gently
and made me accept rolling beads
for she was already a member.
I began to roll beads
My life started 2 change.
Slowly.
I rolled beads for months
Then I started paper business
Now I can afford school fees
I cater for my mum
I can cater for my grandmum

Two years now in selling papers
Saving from my business.
I’ve set a poultry business
Employed two people.
I had written 25 songs
Had no hope of going to studio
To record my hip hop tunes.
My dream is now reality.
I will sing this song in studio
BeadforLife has changed me
Many people can earn now
Paper sellers, paper cutters, glass bead sellers…
All can have their dreams now.

The song is great and the story even better – people need to know what beadforlife can do for them just like Richard. Well done!!

  2. This is a wonderfully rich, honest poem which I know will bring inspiration to so many. I started buying Bead for Life jewelry as Christmas gifts 3 years ago for friends and family, and I will continue to support this worthwhile venture. So many people have been lifted up, helped, and nurtured by Bead for Life. May the tradition continue.

May you have much success in your singing career, Short Richard!

  5. What a story!!

I recently sent a bag of paper beads from Beadforlife with my first grader for art class. The art teacher loved them especially since her class was making paper beads. She played the Beadforlife video for them and I really feel that it made a huge impact on the art classes that day.

    Best Wishes,
