The BeadforLife office in Uganda is a flurry of activity today. Past and present beaders fill the front courtyard and porch, children and babies wait patiently for their parents to finish conducting their business, paper sellers market their brightly-colored goods to the beaders, and BeadforLife staff members perform countless tasks all while monitoring the Suubi bead sale.
Another, unique element has been added to the mix. Today, a film production crew is on site to document several BeadforLife activities. Vicky Collins, a producer from Colorado, has had a relationship with BeadforLife for quite some time.
She, along with Paul Hillman, a cinematographer from Seattle, are on their third trip to Uganda. The third member of the film crew, Godwin Opuly, is a young Ugandan man who has joined Collins and Hillman for the last two projects in Uganda.
After the beaders and staff did their traditional sale kickoff that involves song and dance, the film crew takes the opportunity to interview some of the beaders and to film the women sending messages to BeadParty hosts. The crew has several tasks and purposes for BeadforLife while here in the country.
