Having a plot of land and a simple home is a huge safety net against poverty in Uganda. Over 90% of our members told us that owning a plot of land was one of the biggest dreams in their lives. BeadforLife has formed a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Uganda to make these dreams a reality.

BeadforLife has just bought land outside of the capital, Kampala, to create a new BeadforLife village where members can build homes and own a plot of land for a kitchen garden. A committee of members is working work with BeadforLife and Habitat to manage all aspects of the project including selecting the first families to build.
BeadforLife will fund a community building, several wells, roads and other critical infrastructure for the village. For a detailed report on our Habitat project click here.

We were confident a large-scale building project would work after we saw an example of the beaders' determination to work together when they organized themselves to create a marketplace and communal building where we now hold sales. Click here to read this story.
