Maria Nakayiza, 19, and her four siblings were raised by their single mother, which meant that they were all required to help out and contribute to the household at the expense of attending school.

She appears very mature when she explains how her childhood hardships prepared her for the realities of life.

Thanks to her sponsor she is enrolled in Hotel Management course, and looks forward to beginning a successful career in the hotel and restaurant business.

These students have worked hard and we have seen their confidence and pride grow each month. BeadforLife strives hard to support students not only with the vocational training, but also with 'wrap-around' skills like resume writing, interviewing, networking, and work ethic. We do this in our monthly Friday Afternoon Club, as well as in one-on-one counseling with students.
