| Sponsored by Dave Ensign & Cisco Systems Inc. Prossy Nerima
a beautiful and friendly girl, is 20 years old. She was born with HIV,
and her mother died when she was three years old. Her father re-married,
and since then she has been looked after by her elder sister whom she
fondly calls Mama. Her sister is a housewife with grown children and her
brother-in-law, a coffee trader in the Kampala suburbs, is the family
breadwinner. |

Prossy has a very likeable personality. She is currently on ARV's, and it is hard to know that she has been through a lot at her young age. In 2002 she suffered a massive stroke that has left her with a limp in her right leg and a non-functioning right hand.. Prossy has not let her disabilities hinder her. She writes with her left hand, and she completed a sponsored computer course, receiving a certificate for it. Prossy is currently attending a counseling course in order to fulfill her dream of helping her peers suffering from HIV/AIDS to deal with the disease and not see it as a disability.

| This
is an example of the inspiring stories of how past and current partnerships
between sponsors and students are allowing young Ugandans to seize a better
future and filling the hearts and imaginations of North Americans. These students
have worked hard and we have seen their confidence and pride grow each month.
BeadforLife strives hard to support students not only with the vocational
training, but also with 'wrap-around' skills like resume writing, interviewing,
networking, and work ethic. We do this in our monthly Friday Afternoon Club,
as well as in one-on-one counseling with students. BeadforLife also attempts to help students find jobs once they graduate. If you are interested in sponsoring a student, please click here. |
